This March 12th, from 6:30-8:30, we will be holding a Community Responder group training provided by Outlier Solutions Group. Being able to respond to emergencies of all kinds in a way that is helpful and potentially life saving is an invaluable skill that more of us should have, and we are pleased to be able to provide the space to learn that is centered on the Bi+ community.
Some of what we will go over during the training:
Time to Intervention Model - Risk Assessment and Management - Introduction to Emergency Response Plans - The Continuum of Care - Accessing and Navigating Public Safety Systems - Introduction to Behavioral Health and Neurodivergence Considerations - Medicolegal Considerations - Next Steps
Due to the nature of this training, we will be dealing with some sensitive content. This may include: Medical and Trauma emergencies, including graphic content around blood, body fluids and functions, Death and Dying, Behavioral Health Emergencies / Crisis, Discussions of public safety, police, fire, and EMS interactions, Disasters and Catastrophic incidents.
We can discuss any potential triggers our group might have and give a heads up if you want to step outside. We will also have fidget toys on hand if anyone finds it helpful for self regulating.
After the training, we will have a Q & A from 8:30-9pm. You do not have to stay till 9pm but we wanted to provide the opportunity!
We will also be providing snacks, drinks, and pizza, we know that this is right around meal time for a lot of people and it’s hard to learn on an empty stomach!
This is a mask required event. If you don’t have one we can provide one!
We will be meeting at the Shifalo Suite at the Little Five Points Community Center at 1083 Austin Ave NE, Atlanta, GA 30307. There are wheelchair accessible parking spots and entrance near the side entrance by Euclid Ave. This is the entrance we will be using. The restrooms are wheelchair accessible as well.
If you have any questions about accessibility, please reach out to us at chair@biplusga.org
There is plenty of parking at the Little Five Points Community Center, and if you are taking MARTA the Inman Park-Reynoldstown Station is about a half mile away.
There is LIMITED space for this training. Please sign up for a free ticket to the training on Eventbrite: https://www.eventbrite.com/e/bi-health-month-community-responder-lecture-and-training-tickets-1983818213680?aff=oddtdtcreator
